Ruth Hillebrand Dane (German) received her education at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Wien, Austria and the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, Germany, graduated there.

In 1987 her artwork was nominated by Wilhelm-Morgner-Haus, Germany as Wilhelm-Morgner-Preis fur junge Künstler.

Ruth Hillebrand Dane has been freelancing as an artist since 1989. First solo exhibitions she had held 1990 and 1992 in Berlin (Galerie im Scheunenviertel). Her work has been presented among others at the 12th International Media Art Biennale WRO 07, Wroclaw/ Breslau, Poland, at contemporary art ruhr, Zeche Zollverein, Essen, Germany in 2007, at Festival du Court-Métrage de Clermont-Ferrand Clermont-Ferrand, France in 2009. She had held a solo exhibitions (Schifter) at Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik, Berlin, Germany in 2017. Her most recent exhibition (Drypoint) took place 2024 in Berlin. Ruth Hillebrand Dane was a Stipendium holder NEUSTART KULTUR: Scholarship for freelance artists, Berlin in 2022 & Stipendium holder by Käthe-Dorsch-Foundation, Berlin in 1995. She was Artist in residence of IAM / Turkey, 2006. Beyond that she received Studio funding of Senate Department for Science, Research and Culture; Berlin 2001 – 2005. She joined as a member BBK Berlin (1989 – 2017), Brandenburgischer Verband Bildender Künstler BVBK, Potsdam (since 2017), VG Bildkunst Bonn (since 1997) neue gesellschaft fur bildende kunst nGbk Berlin (2009-2024), Wurttembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart (since 2009).

Ruth Hillebrand Dane is a founding member of Die Zeichner, Berlin (2012) and has served as deputy artistic director ever since. In addition she teaches extensive techniques of freehand drawing and techniques of digital visualisation, including for the Berlin Chamber of Architects 2013 – 2017.

Her Artwork can be found in public collections including Staatliche Museen Preußischer Kulturbesitz, Kupferstichkabinett; Berlin and Neuer Berliner Kunstverein.
